School Wide Positive Behaviour Support the APPS Way
At Ainslie Parklands Primary School, creating a positive learning environment is something we value every day. Our School-wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework helps us build and support a school culture where staff and students feel valued, supported and ready to learn.
SWPBS provides a consistent approach to teaching and encouraging positive behaviour across our school. We believe these behaviours, like any other important skill, can be taught, practised, and recognised.
Everything we do is guided by our three school values: Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.
These values are explicitly taught, modelled, and reinforced in the classroom, the playground and throughout all areas of our school. Students learn what these values look like in different situations and are encouraged to demonstrate them every day. The whole school community embraces our values and are expected to uphold these to ensure a culture of kindness and wellbeing.
We help build confidence, strengthen relationships, and foster a strong sense of belonging.
We celebrate students who make positive choices and demonstrate these values through a range of acknowledgements and celebrations. By recognising these behaviours, we help build confidence, strengthen relationships, and foster a strong sense of belonging.
SWPBS is more than a behaviour framework. It reflects our commitment to supporting every student as they develop the social, emotional and behavioural skills they need to become confident learners and respectful members of our school community.
SWPBS enables our school to use data driven decision-making to help target specific behaviours we wish to encourage or discourage, and act quickly to repair and restore relationships. Our leadership team works with the data to hold ourselves accountable for building and maintaining a positive school climate for staff and students.
